Volunteering with Us

Volunteers are vital to everything we do.  They are ESCAPE’s face in the local community and key partners with us in the delivery of services and activities to support the families we work with.

Volunteering with us takes many different forms and we believe is as much about meeting your needs and expectations as it is about meeting ours.

We are looking for volunteers who have an understanding and interest in the needs of our clients and who can help us provide a welcoming, safe and effective service.  There are numerous roles to suit all skills, interests and availability to volunteer, from covering reception, producing the newsletter or helping out with family fun days to simply providing mutual support.

All our volunteers are provided with a comprehensive induction, appropriate training and receive ongoing support.

We provide a programme of training for our volunteer befrienders and peer mentors which can lead onto ONCN Level 2 qualifications in Peer Mentoring and Skills for Supporting Those Affected by Addiction.

Volunteer vacancies are advertised with Northumberland CVA or you can contact us directly.  There is a rolling programme of recruitment for our support roles and training courses.

If you would like to volunteer with us or find out more contact us.

Here’s what people say about volunteering for ESCAPE:

To give back something for all the help and support I’ve received for me to be the person I am today.

It keeps me busy so I don’t fall back into my shell.

To build my confidence up more and still learn new skills.

To help others that are going through situations I have been through – give experiences, empathy and hope.

To learn skills for me to use outside of Escape.

What you can do to support the work of our staff and volunteers

We couldn’t achieve what we do without the support of our volunteers, the families we work with, the general public and a whole range of other stakeholders and funders.

We are always pleased to accept:

  • Cash Donations
  • Donations of clothes and tombola prizes
  • Offers to engage in our ‘sponsored’ activities, eg. Great North Run, Sponsored Swims, etc
  • Or directly by supporting our community fundraising team or other activities that keep us going as an effective charity that makes a difference locally and nationally

Please contact us directly or sign-up for our newsletter to find out more.

You can donate directly at our Local Giving page.
