The contribution made by carers in Northumberland is being recognised as part of National Carers Week.
ESCAPE Family Support provides a range of services to carers affected by addiction resident in Northumberland
The charity recently secured a grant from Northumberland County Council to upgrade its respite caravan at Berwick Holiday Centre.
ESCAPE’s new caravan was officially opened on Monday 10th June by Northumberland County Councillor Veronica Jones, cabinet member for Adult Wellbeing and Health.
Jackie Axelby Chair of ESCAPE Family Support thanked Northumberland County Council for the grant and support to purchase a new caravan to enable ESCAPE to continue the respite project. Thanks were also extended to Debra Dodds, Carers Lead for the support she provided with the grant application and to Phil Gornall and Aaron Hall at Berwick Holiday Centre for the generous donation of new electrical goods and crockery etc to provide the finishing touches to the caravan. As well as a beautiful buffet lunch that was enjoyed by all who attended.
The caravan provides invaluable respite support to between forty and fifty families each year. Around two thousand people have benefited from respite breaks at the caravan during the past twenty years.

ESCAPE Family Support is delighted to announce that it has successfully retained both the Investor in People Gold, and Health and Wellbeing Awards in 2019.
The charity has achieved these with even more positive feedback than in previous years.
